Transaction Posting Date is one of the most critical fields in Mysa. It determines when a bill should be recorded in your accounting system and drives key financial reports like TDS and GST.
This article outlines everything you need to know about how Posting Date works and how to manage it effectively.
The Posting Date can be edited by GFA Reviewers, Payment Creators, and Payment Authorizers (Admins)
Posting date can be added by the account during finance review.
The Posting Date is the accounting date that defines when a bill is officially recorded in your books. It has a direct impact on:
Taxation (e.g., TDS applicability)
Accounting period alignment
Financial reports like GST and TDS
This date can be different from the Bill Date (the date on the vendor’s invoice) and is typically used to control which financial month the transaction is recognized in.
Accounting and finance teams often need flexibility to control when a bill hits the books. Here’s why:
Month-end adjustments: Vendors may issue invoices at the end of the month (e.g., March 30), but teams may wish to record them in the following month (e.g., April 7) to manage workload or comply with TDS cut-offs.
Service acceptance delays: Bills are recorded only after service quality is verified—even if the invoice is older.
System | Field Name | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
Mysa | Transaction Posting Date | Controls accounting and tax timelines |
Zoho Books | Transaction Posting Date | Synced for accurate financial reporting |
Tally | EFFECTIVEDATE / DATE / VCHSTATUSDATE | Synced to match accounting periods |
The Posting Date can be set in the future if needed.
It cannot be earlier than the Bill Date to ensure accounting accuracy.
It cannot be more than one year ahead of the current date.
If the Bill Date is changed to a later date, the Posting Date will automatically update to match it.
If the Bill Date is changed to an earlier date, the Posting Date will stay as is, respecting the user's original choice.
